Randy Carter Memorial Award

FFV (Float Fishermen of Virginia) is affiliated with the Virginia Wildlife Federation and the Conservation Council of Virginia.  Each year FFV recognizes the year's best river conservationist with the Randy Carter Memorial Award, begun by FFV in 1974.

The Randy Carter Memorial Award is given for "outstanding efforts to protect Virginia's free-flowing streams for their recreational and environmental value, for significant contributions to the growth of Virginia Scenic Rivers System, or for promoting a greater appreciation of our rivers among the citizens of our state".

Randy Carter Memorial Award

In late 1999 the award was returned to FFV when the Virginia Wildlife Foundation ceased to function.  Prior to 1998 the awards were selected by FFV and presented by the Virginia Wildlife Foundation. No awards were presented in 1998 and 1999.

The Float Fishermen Virginia, Inc. select the recipient as before but the Float Fishermen of Virginia Foundation, Inc. now makes the presentation.
